On 1 November 2011 Ambassador of Ukraine in Beirut, Volodymyr Koval, met with the President of the Council of Ministers of the Lebanese Republic Najib Mikati.

The two parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in various fields. It was underlined, in particular, as important to further intensify political dialogue between Ukraine and Lebanon, expand trade and economic ties, as well as legal basis of bilateral relations.

To this end, the head of the Lebanese government voiced his readiness to pay an official visit to Ukraine in the first half of 2012.

In this context the interlocutors positively assessed the Second Joint Session of the Ukrainian-Lebanese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation which is expected to take place on 24-25 November 2011 in Beirut and to become an important stage in preparation for Najib Mikati’s future visit to Kyiv.
