Trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Lebanon
According to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2021, the total trade turnover of goods between Ukraine and Lebanon amounted to 393.7 million USD, showing an increase of 18.9% compared to 2020. Ukrainian exports of goods to Lebanon amounted to 389.1 million USD (up 18.9% compared to 2020). Ukrainian imports of goods from Lebanon were worth 4.6 million USD (up 7.3% compared to 2020).
Ukraine had a positive balance in the goods trade - 384.5 million USD.
The top commodities exported by Ukraine to Lebanon were grain crops (56.3%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin (14.5%), ferrous metals and their products (11.5%), and seeds and fruits of oil plants (9.7% ).
The total trade turnover in services in 2021 amounted to about 6.4 million USD (up 12% compared to 2020). Ukrainian exports of services to Lebanon were worth about 5.6 million USD (up 41.5% compared to 2020). Lebanon provided services to Ukraine amounted to 809.6 thousand USD (down 53.9% compared to 2020).
The positive balance for Ukraine in the services trade was 4.8 million USD.
According to the data of the Customs authorities of Lebanon, the total trade turnover of goods between Ukraine and Lebanon in 2022 amounted to 323.1 million USD. At the same time, Ukraine exported goods to Lebanon worth 318.6 million dollars USA. The import of Lebanese goods to Ukraine is estimated at 4.5 million USD.
Ukraine had a positive balance in the goods trade - 314.1 million dollars USA.
In 2022, Ukraine made no investments in Lebanon.
At the same time, according to the NBU data, as of December 31, 2021, the total investments of Lebanon in the Ukrainian economy amount to 11.3 million USD. Of which, 11,2 million USD was allocated to the instruments of capital participation and 0,1 million USD - debt instruments.
