Meeting between the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Lebanon Volodymyr Koval and the newly elected Head of the Maronite Church, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East Bechara Boutros al-Rai took place on April, 18.

The Ambassador congratulated the Patriarch with recent election and expressed his belief that the Maronite Church under his leadership would continue to play the uniting role in Lebanon and in the region in general.

Volodymyr Koval informed Bechara al-Rai about condition and perspectives of the Ukrainian-Lebanese relations development, basic lines of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to issues of spiritual life in Ukraine and Lebanon, religious ties between people in both countries.

During the meeting the sides expressed their opinions about the situation in Lebanon and the Middle East Region, emphasized the necessity for preservation of coexistence and equality between different confessions.
