On September 12, 2012 the Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon held a diplomatic reception dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Ukraineís independence.

The event was attended by the representative of the President of the Lebanese Republic, President of the National Assembly and President of the Council of Ministers, by representatives of governmental structures, members of parliament, businessmen, clergy, scientists, foreign diplomats, Ukrainian community and media.

National anthems of Ukraine and Lebanon were performed at the beginning of the solemn ceremony. The attendees were addressed by Ambassador Volodymyr Koval who informed them about the development of Ukraine, its foreign policy priorities, present state and prospects of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Volodymyr Koval handed over the Ukrainian state decoration ìOrder of Meritsî to the famous Lebanese businessman Rafic Daou, who donated a new magnificent building for the Embassy of Ukraine.

During the reception a video film about Ukraine was displayed, accompanied by national music. The guests were offered image booklets about Ukraine in Arabic and French and other information materials.
