The Embassy of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Cultural Centre inBeirut, arranged on January 21, 2012 an event on the occasion of the Unity and Liberty Day. It was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian community in Lebanon and local public, Embassy staff and members of their families, media.

Addressing the audience Ambassador Volodymyr Koval underlined the historical significance of the January 1919 developments which became a manifestation of the aspirations of the Ukrainian nation to establish a great united state, and which became a precursor of Ukraine’s future independence. The head of the diplomatic mission informed about the nation-wide events held to mark this date.

The attendees received the text of the greeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko for the Ukrainian community abroad on the occasion of the Unity and Liberty Day, as well as press release issued by the Embassy.

The event was accompanied by screening of video materials and photo exhibition about Ukraine.
